What is
Clomipramine? - This generic medication
(brand name Anafranil) is used in the treatment of obsessive compulsive

tricyclic

Clomipramine Hcl Side Effects - They include:
constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, headache,
irritability, loss of appetite, nausea, nightmares, sweating, tiredness,
upset stomach, vomiting, weakness, and weight loss and/or gain.
Drug Medicine Interaction - Please read closely
if you are taking any of the following medications: (1) Azole antifungals,
cimetidine, duloxetine,
haloperidol,
methylphenidate, mibefradil, phenothiazines (i.e.
chlorpromazine), selective
serotonin reuptake inhibitors (such as
fluoxetine),
terbinafine, or valproic acid because they may increase the risk of
Clomipramind's side effects; (2) Astemizole, furazolidone, ketolide antibiotics, macrolide
antibiotics, MAOI's, pimozide, or terfenadine because the risk of high blood
pressure, serious heart problems, and/or seizures may be increased: (3)
Barbiturates (such as phenobarbital) or phenytoin because they may decrease
med's effectiveness; (4) Anticoagulants (Warfarin),
carbamazepine, or sympathomimetics because the risk of their side effects
may be increased by Clomipramine Hci; and (5)
Clonidine,
guanethidine, or guanfacine because their effectiveness may be decreased by
Generic Anafranil.
Important Notes About This Antidepressant
Medication: (1) This medicine may cause drowsiness, dizziness, or
blurred vision. These effects may be worse if you take it with alcohol or
certain medicines. Use this medication with caution. Do not drive or perform
other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to it. (2)
Do not become overheated in hot weather or while you are being active;
heatstroke may occur. (3) Generic Anafranil may cause you to become
sunburned more easily. Avoid the sun, sunlamps, or tanning booths until you
know how you react to this prescription. Use a sunscreen or wear protective
clothing if you must be outside for more than a short time. (4)
The use of this drug while you
are pregnant or breast feeding should be discussed with your physician.

is Clomipramine (clo-mi'pra-meen). Incorrect is clomipramen, clomiparmean,
clompramine, clomipramind, and clompramind.
